About

Facebook is a popular social media platform that allows users to connect with friends and family, share updates, photos, and videos, and engage in various online communities. This study aims to explore the usage of various experience flows in focusing on various features and evaluating the overall experience provided by the Facebook app.

The study includes evaluating Surveys and App Store ratings and producing a heuristic evaluation report. Based on the findings, potential usability changes for the mobile application are presented here.

The goal of this study is to improve the usability of the Facebook app for users of all age groups by understanding their needs, analyzing current user satisfaction, and evaluating the user interface design.
Usability Heuristic Evaluation

Facebook is a comprehensive app that functions much like a super app, enabling users to connect and chat with friends and family and engage with the community through groups, marketplace, dating, or games.

Since it offers a plethora of unique interactions aimed at different goals, I chose to evaluate the app using Nielsen's Heuristics to deduce a comprehensive usability report.
Principle-based analysis
Principles were utilized to identify usability issues spread across the app and were later assigned a severity level, depending on the criticality of the issue associated with the feature.
Some examples of principle and severity-based discoveries from the report as mentioned in the analysis are as follows:

User control and freedom
According to Nielsen, a user must have flexibility when it comes to interacting with a product. After all, a flexible design is one that helps culminate a good user experience. Incorporating multiple controls and preferences as a part of a product not only makes a product expansive but also paves the way to make better decisions and improve overall experiences for the end users.
Visibility of system status
According to Nielsen, a user must always be kept informed of system activities; even though they are happening in the background. Conveying activity information, before an outcome arrives, can help build confidence in users while
using a product.
Consistency and Standards
This Nielsen Principle is all about retaining constancy and standards. What is shown on a product should retain its view and style in the same manner across the entire manner. No flow or interaction should change the way elements are represented across the interface.
Flexibility and efficiency of use
Through this principle, Nielsen tries to convey the impact of efficient interactions on the experience of a product. In order to deliver a rapid navigational experience, designs must incorporate shortcuts. These shortcuts would enable individuals to quickly browse interface sections with the help of shortcuts.
